Use electric buses

It's a bit of a cheek that one of the first acts of the new Labour/NZ First/Greens government is to slap Auckland's working poor with a fuel tax to help pay for a tram line to the airport, something most of them will never use.

Why not just buy electric buses and put them to work carting wealthy tourists from downtown Auckland to the airport? Auckland residents ride free! Very little new infrastructure needed, environmentfriendly and get started straight away.
