Insult to Australia

-

Your columnist Tracey Barnett conveniently overlooks the fact that my country, Australia, takes in 13,000 refugees every year. These are people who have complied with UN processing procedures in coming to Australia. While Labor was in power the country was overrun by 50,000 illegal arrivals and a further 1200 drowned at sea.

My Government has made it clear we will be generous to genuine refugees whereas those who simply turn up demanding residence will never be admitted. Australia is a country with a long and proud history of successful immigration. Ms Barnett’s article is an insult to Australia and its people.
