THE COMMONWEALTH

Games are on the way and there are plenty of options if you’re planning on keeping up with the action at home.

TVNZ has announced its coverage coming to your TV screen live and best of all, free, across four dedicated channels — including two new channels — this April.

The Hits’ Toni Street and Sam Wallace will front coverage along with Hayley Holt, Peter Williams, Andrew Saville and Jenny-May Clarkson. Hauraki’s Matt Heath, Jeremy Wells and Mike Lane will also present an alternative commentary on the opening ceremony on Duke. The Games take place from April 4-15, with athletes from 70 nations and territories competing in 18 sports and seven para sports on the Gold Coast. TVNZ’s chief executive Kevin Kenrick says its coverage will be “unprecedented” and will be served across TV, mobile and connected devices.

TVNZ 1 and Duke will be fully focused on the event and TVNZ will launch two additional channels, Games Extra and Games Online, offering around the clock coverage.

“This will be the most extensive coverage of a Commonwealth Games that New Zealand’s ever seen, says Kenrick.

“The Commonwealth Games have a special place in New Zealand’s hearts — every four years they bring us together as we stop and watch.

“We know the country will want to back our athletes on the world stage and we’re proud to be bringing their stories to the widest audience possible in New Zealand.”

The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will be screened from April 4-15.
