My Holiday: Anita Hinton

-

What was your greatest holiday? Taking my daughter, Neia, to Sea World in Australia last year to swim with the dolphins was an incredible experience. And the worst? There’s never been a worst holiday yet, but a memory that sticks out was the road trip Anita Hinton with her daughter, Neia. Anita Hinton’s I Got Your Back Pack provides support for women leaving abusive relationships. igotyourbackpack.org.nz up and back from Karikari Peninsula in my parents’ caravan and having it break down — it wasn’t the best way to start and end the break, but the time we spent up there with friends was awesome. If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing? At the beach, or exploring nature with Neia. If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be? I have always wanted to explore Queenstown; I have never been to the South Island so would love to cross that off my bucket list. How about for a dream holiday internationally? I would love to get to Scotland this year to attend the Social Enterprise World Forum, which brings social entrepreneurs and other groups from across the world together to share knowledge and experience in order to tackle future inequality. What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done when travelling? Missing my flight back home because I put the wrong date in my reminders. Aisle seat or window seat? Definitely window seat. Complete this sentence: I can’t travel without. . . my camera — photos are the best souvenirs. What’s the best travel tip you’ve ever been given? Always buy travel insurance, especially when you are travelling with kids. What was the most memorable meal you’ve had while travelling? I would probably have to say the fresh seafood dishes in Rarotonga have always stayed in my mind. What’s the best thing you’ve brought back from a trip? Knowledge and experience. Favourite airport to land at? Anywhere tropical, because I love it when the doors open and you’re hit with the heat and instantly feel like you’re in holiday mode. What’s the next trip you’ve got planned? I don’t currently have any trips planned, but would love to make Scotland or Queenstown a reality this year.
