On honours

For many years I have woken up at New Year and Queen’s Birthday angry that once again older white men have dominated the honours list. At last we can rejoice knowing that, at last, a few more wonderful women are getting due recognitio­n.

On congestion

At 6.49am this morning I filled up the car at Bombay. At 7.52am I got to the airport turnoff at Manukau, a 26km leg. That’s about 45 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. I don’t know how you guys stay sane up there. Glenn Forsyth, Taupo.

On nappies

I agree there is no need for disposable nappies, cotton ones are readily available as are the liners. Drop them into a bucket of soapy water until ready to wash them. All quite easy. Disposable were not available years ago. Today with decent washing machines they are certainly not necessary. Sheila Sivyer, Pukekohe.

On grammar

Never mind nit-picking about “correct” pronunciat­ion. Incorrect use of “I” and “me”, “we” and “us” is far too prevalent.
