On price

The new fuel tax came into effect on Sunday. Mobil in St Heliers Bay Rd raised their price by 12c a litre instantly. Ditto BP Meadowbank in Remuera Rd. The tax applies to fuel shipped after midnight. Neither of those stations received shipments after midnight.

Murray Fitchett, Remuera.

Congratulations Auckland, you have just caught up to Dargaville and we are less than 100km from the oil refinery. Our fuel prices have been $2.30 for the past 12 months. Why the discrepancy I wonder?

Simon Gough, Dargaville.

On film

We squandrous wastrels of taxpayers have spent $575m on fiction and fantasy, mere ephemera, to subsidise Wellywood.
