Peters’ rights

-

I take issue with John Tamihere’s article on Winston Peters’ right to legally pursue leaks over his superannuation overpayments. Peters had this predetermined course of action against National set in motion before his “difficult” (vengeful) decision to pair with Labour in the last election played out beautifully through the media to his adoring and loyal subjects.

Election results would be rightly declared invalid and a new election set if it had been established that such biases were already in play and so wrongly determined an election outcome anywhere else in the developed world.

The politician responsible would probably be expelled.

Not so in little old NZ, where it seems the public are so easily dumbed-down and convinced by politicians who think they have special rights.

Our nation needs to grow up and stand up for what is right and not allow such entitlement attitudes to impair the judgment of our so-called “leaders”. MMP puts us in this invidious position.
