Spurs hero dies

-

Former Scotland and Tottenham Hotspur striker Alan Gilzean has died at the age of 79 after a short battle with illness. Gilzean, who was part of the swaggering Spurs side of the 1960s, terrorising opposition defences alongside Englishman Jimmy Greaves, had been suffering from a brain tumour. The Scot helped the club win the FA Cup in 1967, League Cup in 1971 and 1973, and Uefa Cup in 1972. Gilzean, who also won the Scottish title with Dundee, was capped 22 times by his country.
