Hateful speech
Portraying Muslims and Islam in a negative way has resulted in Canadian activist and provocateur Lauren Southern being labelled racist and subsequently banned from speaking at all Auckland Council venues. Personally, I fail to see the difference between Southern’s modus operandi and that of many feminist activists, including some within the mainstream media. Certain columnists have told us there is “no predator more deadly than the human male”, and that Kiwi men are part of a “rape culture”. One columnist even revealed she will “assess the threat level” whenever she encounters groups of men in public. Yet, when Lauren Southern expresses similar phobias in relation to Muslims, she is deemed hateful, divisive and bigoted. Just why is it seemingly acceptable to demonise, attack and stereotype some demographics in society, but not others?
