On nurses

If I was a nurse I’d be keeping my foot firmly on the oesophagus. The moment a deal is signed they will start drifting backwards for another 30 years. Unfortunately that’s the nature of their mostly female profession.

Richard Irwin, Te Atatu South.

On stadium

John Laing has suggested Mount Smart Stadium would make a good replacement for Eden Park as it is away from all the neighbours. However it is also far away from the entertainment and hotel precinct and nowhere near the central transport hub for the Auckland region and this makes it completely unsuitable to replace Eden Park. The only site that meets all of the requirements is downtown Auckland, close to the waterfront.

David Mairs, Glendowie.
