I read Winston Aldworth’s great review on the Singapore-to-Hanoi flight [Travel, Flight Check, July 18] and noted that you stayed at the Crowne Plaza Singapore. Are you able to do a review on the hotel and its close location to Changi?
We are transiting from a Seaborne cruise from Athens in November and have the 8.45am Singapore Airlines flight back home. From all accounts it’s a fantastic hotel.

Le Quesnoy help
I kept a cutting from one of the Travel magazines about Le Quesnoy and I wondered if you knew of any escorted group tours that might be being arranged to go to the centenary of New Zealand soldiers capturing the town in 1918. I am interested because my father, T H Christophers, was in the group who climbed over the wall to liberate the city in 1918. He went back to Le Quesnoy in 1968 for the 50th anniversary with a group and they were so well received.
I would love to go there this time for my father’s sake as I am the last one left of our family.
Only trouble is I am battling a dose of “shingles” at the moment but hope I will be well recovered by November.
