NZ First’s silence
Those surprised by the lack of criticism of Iain Lees-Galloway from Winston Peters, for allowing Karel Sroubek to stay in New Zealand after he claimed to be in danger in his homeland, need to remember Shane Jones was the immigration minister who swallowed the line that Citizen Yan was in danger if he went back to China, which he subsequently did voluntarily. Then came back safe and sound.
If NZ First was to talk it would be blown out of the water. Either way, we need more professionalism in immigration, and Labour needs to lift its game. Jones was, of course, a Labour Minister then.
