US blocks draft

The United States has blocked a draft United Nations Security Council statement that would have expressed regret at Israel’s decision to eject a foreign observer force from the flashpoint Palestinian city of Hebron, diplomats say. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused observers with the Norway-headed Temporary International Presence in Hebron of unspecified anti-Israel activity.
