Short & sweet

On cash

I think it’s time we had a discussion on having the Ma¯ ori Queen, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu, Dame Whina Cooper or Princess Te Puea Herangi replace Queen Elizabeth on our $20 note.

Andy Leleisi’uao, Ma¯ ngere.

On time charge

Did you know that if you are using the International Airport’s large carpark and have a slow-moving companion who uses a walking stick, when you put your paid ticket in the slot at the exit, it says you need to pay another $2 as you have taken more than 8 minutes to reach that point?

Jeanette Grant, Mt Eden.

On speech

Jacinda Ardern is hardly in a position to ridicule Simon Bridges for his pronunciation of China when she insists on saying pardy instead of party.

Maxine Samson, Whakata¯ ne. While Simon really needs to be doing something about his vowels, Jacinda should be checking her consonants.

Pamela Russell, Ora¯ kei.

On rules

School pupils who want to wear their hair in a certain style, grow a beard or sport a tattoo need to realise abiding by rules is part of growing into maturity. Whether they want to get a particular job, a loan to buy a house, join the forces, travel overseas, there will be rules, rules and more rules.

Pamela Putland, RD Papakura. On China Our PM used her ministers’ visits to China as proof of the good relations. Looking at the dates it’s obvious these were all before the Huawei ban. Again Labour is trying to pull the wool over the voters’ eyes and treating them like idiots.

Pim Venecourt, Torbay.
