DEEP SLEEP

- — Johanna Thornton • To find out more, visit Sixsenses.com

Imagine going on holiday just to sleep. At Six Senses resorts worldwide, some guests prioritise a good night’s sleep over poolside cocktails and opt for a personalised sleep programme ensuring some of the best zzzs of their life. The Sleep With Six Senses programme was developed by respected sleep doctor Michael J. Breus, and is available at selected resorts as an upgrade. Six Senses is renowned for its wellness ethos so a sleep programme was a logical addition to its “holistic holiday” approach. After all, resting the mind and rejuvenating the body starts with a good night’s sleep. So what are the essentials? A room fine-tuned for optimal sleep, with the light, temperature and noise levels set just so. Beds are dressed in moisture-wicking linen made from cotton and eucalyptus, atop organic mattresses shipped from Devon in the UK and said to be some of the most comfortable in the world. Guests are equipped with a sleep tracker to monitor sleep patterns and movement, with a “wellness expert” to help interpret the data and ensure a more restful sleep night after night. A sleep bag containing pyjamas, an eye mask, ear plugs, nose strips, jasmine sleep spritzer and a journal, along with a memory stick with how-to sleep videos from Dr Breus is part of the package. If that’s not enough to set you snoozing, you can add a sound and sleep Ecotone machine, speciality pillows or a dehumidifier to your room. Prepare for the best sleep of your life.
