The Plane: A Boeing 777-200. Class: I flew Business Class for the first time — what an experience!

My seat: I was in 19H on the aisle, but shifted over to the window seat when the crew told me no one would be sitting there. The seats are gloriously wide and there was so much legroom I didn’t quite know what to do with myself.

There’s ample space to store items, but the best part? No fighting over the armrest, even if you do have a neighbour. Passengers: There were a handful of other passengers scattered around the cabin, including a young couple and their baby, but quite a lot of empty seats.

The service: The crew were very attentive and welcoming from the moment I boarded. Before we’d even taken off I’d been given a glass of champagne and a hot towel. It felt like my every need was taken care of. One air hostess even went the extra mile and wrote me a list of things I should do while in Singapore.

Food: Beautiful. There was a great range of meals to choose from but my favourite was the dinner appetiser, a crab salad with cucumber mango salsa. I filled up a little too much on the bread rolls though — a lesson for next time.

Entertainment: The usual mix of movies, TV, music and games. Checking out the new release movies is always my favourite part of flying, and I was able to squeeze in several over the trip.

Luggage: I was allowed a 40kg checked bag, but as I was only going away for three nights and would need to navigate public transport with my luggage, I opted to check a small suitcase and carry on my laptop and handbag.

Airport experience: I’ve flown out of Wellington International Airport before, so I was familiar with the layout and amenities. This was the first time I had access to the Air New Zealand lounge though, which was a nice way to start my trip. Overall the airport experience was quick and hassle-free, leaving me to enjoy the anticipation of my trip.

Would I fly this again? Absolutely — in fact I’m going to find it very hard going back to Economy Class again. This experience of premium service has ruined me for cheap travel. And yes, I got the selfie.
