Officer cleared

A police officer whose patrol car and pistols were stolen by an offender didn’t breach any policy, an Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) investigation has found. But the officer, identified only as Officer A, should have removed his keys from the car’s ignition, and his failure to do so allowed 24-year-old Hori Gemmell to take the car and Glock pistols. Gemmell was ultimately sentenced to more than three years in prison.
