INDULGENCE TO A TEA

Celebrate summer in the Chandelier Lounge at Cordis Auckland with a luxurious high tea

-

The elegant tradition of high tea has returned to favour in recent years, and Cordis hotel is the latest to serve up a sophisticated offering. High Tea by Cordis with TWG is the stately new experience available to guests and visitors, hosted in the hotel’s decedent Chandelier Lounge, and served daily from 11. 30am.

A freshly re-vamped and rebranded luxury space on the ground floor, the Chandelier Lounge boasts a genteel décor befitting of its name, while still being thoroughly modern. With a regal colour palette that encompasses sorbet yellow, sleek navy and touches of gold, it ’s the perfect place for special occasions and everyday indulging. There are plush chairs to while away the hours, bevelled mirrors and (of course) a grand chandelier.

TWG is the new tea supplier for Cordis. Established in Singapore, they are founded on an appreciation for luxury — elevating tea to an artform and boasting one of the largest ranges in the world. TWG’s handcrafted blends are at the heart of the High Tea experience at Cordis, and from their extensive range of 800 teas the Cordis team have hand selected 21 varieties to serve in the Chandelier Lounge — including Eternal Summer Tea, a fragrant South African red tea with fruity accents, Crème Caramel tea ( sweet, spicy and just how it sounds) and the exceptionally festive Noel! Noel!, a fragrant blend of white and black tea with spices and clementine.

The High Tea menu at Cordis has been carefully designed to reflect and enhance the teas on offer. Tea has even been incorporated deftly into some of the tasty morsels — such as lamb oolong pastrami, or orange and jasmine tea tartelettes. Alongside tea, the menu showcases a considered array of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients; there are handcrafted sweets, fluffy scones with artisan jam and clotted cream, delicate sandwiches and more artful bites to be enjoyed, all classically displayed on a chic three-tier stand. A tea sommelier service provides expert guidance for a complementary match. Those feeling particularly festive can enjoy Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne, or a barista-made coffee if you’re more that way inclined.

Cordis belongs to the Langham Hospitality Group, and their Auckland hotel overlooks the central city from its Symonds St corner. Whether visiting the city, planning a staycation, or simply popping in for an afternoon of indulgence, make High Tea by Cordis with TWG part of the plan. Though we can’t travel abroad currently, a delightful high tea at a luxury hotel is the next best thing – and an exceptional way to treat yourself this holiday season.
