Signed glitter paintings of singer Pink raise $7000 for KidsCan NZ

- Kristin Edge

Two large glitter paintings of singer Pink created by Whanga¯rei artist Jessie Rose Foote have raised $7000 for KidsCan NZ

The popular singer who toured New Zealand this month signed both paintings after Foote appealed to Pink through social media to autograph the works.

Pink obliged and both were signed by Pink backstage at Spark Arena on her 39th birthday at her Auckland concert.

The works were on Trade Me and once it was official Pink had signed them the bidding increased with fans keen to get their hands on the paintings.

One painting sold for $2460 and was being transported for free by PBT Couriers to Dunedin.

The other fetched $4800 and had been delivered to a home just outside of Whanga¯rei.

With the fees taken off, the total amount going to the charity was $7000.

The new owners will also get a framed letter of authenticity from Pink’s management team.

The amount raised and community spirit has impressed Foote.

“It’s awesome to use my art to help. I know how hard it is out there and every little bit helps,” Foote said.

Foote has previously auctioned an artwork of singer Adelle which sold for nearly $1000.

That enabled KidsCan to buy 30 pairs of shoes, socks, and raincoats for a class of school children.

This time her donation would be able to buy much more for children in need.

Foote runs an art school for children in Kamo, and she chose Pink because she was a great role model for her students.

“She’s not afraid to be different. I think she’s got guts, and she stands up for what she believes in.”

Pink supports an American charity similar to KidsCan which feeds hungry children.
