Moerewa residents angry about new boiler at Affco meatworks and air quality issues

● Renee Monkhouse: That's not fair residents should get a say before it even goes in . . . start a petition locals

● Gary Larkan: Surely a cone-ring or cyclone soot separator would sort this issue out.

● William Morunga: Affco should have talked to the settlement explaining what’s changing and what effects it would have . . . however you can’t complain about air quality when you are polluting the air yourself with your fire burners.

● Esme Sherwin: William Morunga, not many local homes have fire places. And there’s a lot of hidden facts like the current stack has been insufficient for decades, only now they’re doing something. In the past, Talleys Affco has proven they can’t be trusted and they need to be monitored to record and hopefully stop their abuse of our environment and their workers. Maybe a documentary about Talleys actions throughout the country would clear a lot of the misgivings up. Their workers have been gagged throughout the country . . . open a few eyes.

● Calvin de Boer: Imagine if the community complained enough and Affco simply pulled pin. So many complaints about the dairy company shutting down and killing the town, Affco are the only big business left far and wide, be nothing left for Moerewa.

● Jim Sheryl Wright: Amazing, and we in Kaikohe are not even allowed to burn in our own backyards. How has this been allowed to happen in your town.
