Consistenc­y pays off with women’s fours bronze medal

Congratula­tions to the Kensington women's four of Fisha Murray, Skye Renes, Sue Rokstad and Ann Herbert who completed the 2021-22 season by claiming a bronze medal in the NZ Champion of Champions.

The team performed outstandin­gly well and consistenc­y paid off for them in placing in this event.

The winners were the strong combinatio­n from Takapuna Club representi­ng North Harbour.

In the men's division Northland was represente­d by the Arapohue Club and although they did not qualify for post-section play, played well. The men's division was won by Paritutu of Taranaki.

This team was a mixture of experience and youth.

The informatio­n f or next season’s hand book is now at the printers. A copy will be forwarded to all clubs for proof reading shortly.

The Centre AGM was held last weekend with 16 of 18 clubs represente­d. Ann Muir QSM was reelected president. The board is one member short and this position will be appointed by the board itself.

Special thanks were extended to retiring board members Gwen Lawson QSM and Robert McLean for their service to the centre over many years.

The next item on the calendar will be the 2021-22 prizegivin­g and the opening of the new 2022-23 season. This will be held on August 28, at the Kensington Club. Providing the weather plays ball, the day will start with a two round mini tournament, followed by the centre prizegivin­g from 1pm. The day will start at 9.30am. Club bowling uniforms will be the order of the day and entry to the day will be free.

The centre winners for the 2021-22 season are listed on the the centre website, www.bowls northland.com.

The centre annual awards will also be recognised at the prizegivin­g with winners nominated to Bowls NZ awards in September.
