A Northland-made children’s video series will jump off the screen and on to the stage, at Kerikeri’s Turner Centre tomorrow.

Mac’s Patch, an educational show featuring puppet characters including Mac the Dog and Slimon the Snail, is made by Kerikeri’s Illumination Workshop. And tomorrow Mac and friends will star in a show featuring hand and shadow puppets made by producer and director Kylie Penn.

Take Something Simple, aimed at audiences aged three to seven, will be performed in the main auditorium at 10am, 1pm and 6pm.

The story centreson the arrival of a mysterious box at Old Mac’s farm. With some inspiration from Little Chicken, and imagination, Kerikeri youngster Lincoln Gurnell, the voice of Max the kunekune pig, one of six children voicing characters in the Mac’s Patch stage show.

each character finds a way to let their creative light shine, with spectacular results.

“Take Something Simple has a little something to light

up the child inside all of us, and a great community message that offers some ideas about how to celebrate the simple things during big events,” Kylie said.

The music is composed by Kerikeri’s Jo Slack with Mac voiced by Hokianga actor Rawiri Paratene of Whale Rider fame.

Tickets are $15 from www.turnercentre.co.nz; $10 for groups of 10 or more. Mac’s Patch will also stage a toy drive tomorrow for Northland children on behalf of Bald Angels and Foster Hope Northland.
