Applications invited for funding

-

Northland Inc has opened applications for funding of events and event activity that will benefit the region.

The Northland Events Fund, established in partnership with MBIE, will focus on distributing funding that drives visiter numbers through investment in innovative and sustainable event activity, which must lead to a positive impact on the local economy by offering new and exciting experiences within the region.

A panel comprising representatives of Northland inc and the Whanga¯rei, Far North and Kaipara District councils will make recommendations, and final decisions.

Panel member Carina de Graaf, WDC’s venues and events manager, said her council was excited about working with the other councils to deliver a fund that would stimulate the events industry.

“The distribution of the Northland Events Fund will be a collaborative effort to inject much-needed funds into the right places within the Northland events industry, while driving visitation to the region, boosting our economy and growing the capability and support for the events industry,” said Tania Burt, general manager — destination at Northland Inc.

Applications close on June 8, with a workshop that will be open to all prospective applicants scheduled for Friday, May 21, at The Orchard, in Whanga¯rei, with the option of taking part online.
