Spacious Whitby home fetches $590,000
ASPACIOUS FAMILY home in Whitby with a rateable value of $420,000 has been auctioned for $590,000. The four-bedroom house, at 5 Bowline Place, was built in the 1970s but had a modern kitchen and an HRV system.
‘‘It was a very comfortable, light-filled, spacious home with two bathrooms, multiple living areas, gas heating and double garaging with internal access,’’ Andy Cooling, of Harcourts, says.
The 230sqm dwelling was on a 516sqm section close to schools, shops and transport. A RENOVATED TITAHI Bay home that dated to the 1950s has been auctioned for $161,000 more than its rateable value.
The property, at 76 Tireti Rd, had a rateable value of $355,000 and sold for $516,000.
‘‘It was a fantastic auction,’’ Lynnette Donoghue, of Harcourts, says.
Bidding started at $350,000 for the 100sqm dwelling, an ex-state house on a 700sqm section without a garage.
Auctioneer Wayne Sutton says the auction drew five times the usual number of bidders, reflecting the lack of stock and anxiety of buyers with pre-approved loans who are desperate to beat the imposition of stricter lending rules. AN NEW AOTEA home with a Europeanstyle kitchen and superb views has been auctioned for $740,000 — $120,000 more than its rateable value of $620,000
The 210sqm house, at 30 Frances Brown Ave, had four bedrooms, a kitchen with a walk-in pantry and Bosch appliances, two bathrooms with glass-tiled showers, two spacious living areas, and a carpeted garage.
‘‘It was a stunning, highly-specified, well thought out family home with a high stud on a 619-square-metre section,’’ Marty Ritchie, of Harcourts, says. A PAPAKOWHAI HOME that was marketed as ‘‘a two-bedroom cutie’’ has been auctioned for $334,000
The property, at 1/13 Yarrow Place, had a rateable value of $280,000.
Built in the 1980s, the 90sqm unit was in a quiet cul-de-sac on a fenced 742sqm section.
‘‘It was a fantastic home only a hopskip-and-a-jump to Papakowhai School, kindergarten and shops,’’ Gavin Faulke, of Harcourts, says.
‘‘It enjoyed a private position and had a new kitchen, open-plan living and sunny deck.’’ A PARAPARAUMU HOME that was advertised as a ‘‘fantastic opportunity’’ for visionaries to enhance has been auctioned for $110,000 above its rateable value.
The 1950s property, at 48 Hinemoa St, had a rateable value of $270,000 and sold for $380,000.
Mike Kuiper, of Harcourts, says the sunny, solid three-bedroom house had lovely wooden flooring, a large openplan kitchen/dining area, and the bonus of a large attic space that could be converted to a teenage haunt.
‘‘It was on a family-sized 824-squaremetre section with plenty of parking space and within walking distance of schools, transport and the Coastlands shopping centre.’’
