Capital’s first all-vegan market

-

If you love night markets, but yearn for one dedicated entirely to meat-free options, we have good news for you. The Vegan Vault, Wellington’s first all-vegan food market, starts this Saturday.

Pioneered by Kristine Bartley, owner of Sweet Release Cakes and Treats, the event takes place on the first Saturday of every month. Vendors will include Easy As Kai, purveyors of authentic tacos, alongside Chur Bro Churros, Wellington Chocolate Factory and street food-fest stalwart House of Dumplings.

‘‘I wanted to create a place where dairy-free and vegan-free people could come once a month, and not have to double-check that anything they like the look of is vegan,’’ explains Bartley. ‘‘There are so many great businesses in Wellington providing vegan options, and veganism is on the rise.

‘‘[The Vegan Vault is] a place to showcase their talents, information, and products... It’s also great for the Wellington community to see that veganism isn’t as scary or boring as some may perceive it to be.’’ Bartley is also the brains behind the immensely popular What F.A.T. Vegans Eat, a celebration of junk food that saw waitlists reach nearly 1000 for both of the 100-person capacity events.

Besides food, the marketplace will also offer health and beauty products from The Aesthete Alchemist and the chance to chat to HUHA (Helping You Help Animals) Charitable Trust.

Victoria St Market, 171 Victoria St, 6pm-10pm. Check the Facebook page for updates and details.
