Regional boom fuels transport growth

- CHLOE WINTER

Undeveloped lots in a new industrial park in Napier are up for sale or lease.

Twenty sections at the Awatoto Industrial Park have been developed to satisfy owneroccupier, and tenant, demand.

The lots range in size from 1000 square metres to 20,000sqm and are available to lease or buy.

The 11.06-hectare site is in one of Hawke’s Bay’s most wellconnected and sought-after industrial areas. The park offers an opportunity for greenfield developments.

Colliers International industrial sales agent Peter Chrisp said the developer was ‘‘investing significantly’’ in infrastructure to support usage required now and in the future.

It was a ‘‘very rare opportunity’’ to snap up possibly the last freehold industrial opportunity in the Napier area, Chrisp said.

‘‘The industrial park would be well-suited to any type of industrial activity that wanted to have good access to major transport links throughout the North Island or direct access to the Napier Port for exporting.’’

Major businesses operating in the area include Heinz Watties, Turners and Growers, Pan Pac, Delegats, Mr Apple and Whakatu Coldstores.

The park offered multiple advantages to potential owneroccupiers or tenants, he said.

Hawke’s Bay was experiencing ‘‘somewhat of an industrial boom through the prosperity that is being generated off the back of the primary sector’’, Chrisp said.

‘‘In turn, increasing numbers of exports of food products from Napier Port is driving growth in the transport sector, with leading transport companies such as Tomoana Warehousing and NZL increasing their footprint in the region.’’

The lots are for sale or lease by negotiation.
