Sunny Wadestown character on top street

-

TENDERS CLOSE on July 5 for a sunny character home, with flat lawn and a single garage, in one of Wadestown’s best streets.

The three-bedroom house, at 59 Pitt St, is on a leafy, landscaped 366-square-metre section with harbour views from the upper level.

Built in the 1930s, it has a recently painted weatherboard exterior with a metal roof and a large, west-facing bay window that affords views from the lounge across the matching garage to the western hills.

The rest of the 180sqm dwelling is oriented to the east, with French doors off a family room to a private, enchanting garden with level lawn, an al fresco terrace with a pergola and pizza oven, a water feature, buxus hedging, lavender bushes, and lemon and oak trees.

The family room has gas heating and skylights, opens to a separate laundry and steps up to an openplan kitchen and dining area with a heat pump.

The kitchen includes an underbench oven, a five-burner gas cooktop, rangehood integrated dishwasher, and pantry.

The lounge is to the right of the front door and as well as the bay window, which is double-glazed, has a woodburner built into the original fireplace.

Also on the lower level is the first of two bathrooms. It has a showerover-bath, toilet, pedestal basin and a shelving unit that pulls out to reveal under-stairs storage.

The second bathroom comes off the stairs leading to the double-bedrooms and has a shower cabinet, vanity and toilet.

Two of the bedrooms are double-glazed while the main bedroom has four double-wardrobes and French doors to a balcony with views of the inner harbour.

Other features include a chandelier and white-painted panelling in the entrance foyer, a covered laundry porch with storage, and a garden shed.

‘‘This is a lovely, comfortable family home with everything you need,’’ Aaron Nation, of Lowe & Co Realty, says.

‘‘It’s easy to live in, with all the living areas on one level, and has plenty of outdoor space for entertaining or for the kids to run around and kick a ball.

‘‘The owners, who are only selling because they’re moving to Queenstown, have loved being just a 25-minute walk from the city while their children can walk to Wadestown School and Wellington Girls’ College or catch a bus just 150 metres away.’’

The property has a rateable value of $1.05 million.
