Coastlands welcomes Wallflower
For shoppers looking for style, Coastlands Shoppingtown just got even better.
Officially opening in June, Wallflower is Coastlands’ first independent boutique women’s fashion store and promises an uplifting experience of both New Zealand and exotic labels.
‘‘We’re very pleased to have opened Wallflower, we feel this is the right timing for us and look forward to bringing colour inspiration and a boutique shopping experience, while complementing the existing stores at Coastlands Shoppingtown,’’ Wallflower owner Trina Laracy says.
Browsing through the racks here, there’s plenty to catch the eye – such as the floral colours and muted tones of Spanish label ‘Nice Things’ or the rich detail in clothing from Amsterdam-based label ‘Scotch & Soda’.
Closer to home, there’s ‘Libertine’, a Kiwi brand with transeasonal layering pieces that can be taken from work to evening; or ‘Salt & Light’, a 100% NZ cotton and linen clothing range. There are also more items instore including bags, jewellery and accessories.
Also owning Paperdoll and Holy Smoke in Raumati Village, Trina has had a life dedicated to clothing and credits the name ‘Wallflower’ as being inspired by an early memory of growing up with a dressmaking mother.
‘‘I personally know that when a woman is dressed in the right, colour, cut and style for her figure and her personality, she shines and is anything but a wallflower,’’ Trina adds.
‘‘I have always wanted to help others feel good about themselves and being in this industry has allowed me to inspire, uplift and give confidence to other women through clothing. I’ve been blessed with an amazing team of individuals at Paperdoll and Holy Smoke who share the same passion, and we’re all pleased to be able to bring the same level of service to Wallflower.’’
Wallflower is Coastlands’ fifteenth fashion retailer, with Max and Jeanswest also opening stores here over the past year. Centre Manager Jan Forrest says they’ve seen an increase in fashion sales and that many stores are starting to feel it is because of shifting Kapiti demographics due to growth.
‘‘For us, this means more stores and greater selection – we are looking forward to being able to announce more stores coming on board this year.’’
Wallflower is located opposite Farmers, next to Hannah’s shoe store.
