Nude Grocer expands range

- neatplaces.co.nz

Wellington waste warrior Nude Grocer is staunch about trying to reduce single-use grocery plastic. It delivers its fresh and dried goods to Wellington doorsteps in reusable jars and banana boxes.

The team is now working with Flight Coffee, Wellington Sourdough and The Dutch Shop in Petone, meaning you can order through its website and have fresh beans, bread and cheese delivered without the plastic and without the fuss.

Eketahuna Country Meats wants to bring back the milkman

If you’re one of those people who pine for the days when fresh milk was left at your letterbox in glistening glass bottles, your nostalgia may soon be rewarded.

With public interest in lowering plastic consumption soaring, Eketahuna Country Meats is seeking interest from those keen to bring back the milkman (see its website for how to have your say).

The small business is soon to launch its full cream milk.

You can find it at 110a Bentley St in Masterton, Riverbank Market in Lower Hutt on Saturdays, and at the Harbourside Market in Wellington on Sundays. Delivery options will depend on the level of interest at this point.

A refilling option will be available, and glass bottles will be available to buy. Milk that is being refilled into bottles supplied by the customer will be sold at $3 a litre.

Free soup Fridays

Need some warming up this chilly season? Champions at bringing people together, the team at Newtown Community & Cultural Centre knows there’s no better way to connect with friendly strangers than over a shared meal.

Head down to this friendly hub (corner of Rintoul and Colombo streets) between noon and 1pm on Fridays to spend time with the community and simultaneously wrap your mittens around a free bowl of hot broth. Vegetarian and vegan eaters are more than welcome, so take along colleagues, mates and family to slurp your way through your lunch break and share stories with others from the same neck of the woods.

Make the most of your oats

Fix and Fogg have long been toast topping lovers, but for the remainder of the Wellington winter, they’re encouraging you to make the ‘‘most of your oats’’ as well. The clever team has five delicious options available from Fix and Fogg’s Eva St window Tuesday–Friday 9.30am–3pm, and Saturday 9am–3pm.

Options include PB & J, Banana and Coconut Crunch and more – all using the Fix and Fogg nut butters on a base of oats, chia seeds, coconut, and cinnamon. If you’ve got some of the empty, clean jars lying about, take them along too to get involved in its new refill system.
