Learn and grow in Ka¯piti this summer

-

The summer break gives you the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill or engage in a passion you want to develop.

Instead of resolving to change in January 2019, take action immediately by enrolling for a course with Ka¯piti Summer School.

With 70 workshops and 32 expert tutors, Kapiti Summer School has the perfect course for everyone and is an easy way to expand your horizons.

Best of all, small class sizes mean great learning potential with an expert tutor you can really engage with.

Founded by Lynette Ellison and Sue Harris, the goal is to provide the residents of Ka¯piti and the surrounding areas with high quality and local courses, run by local people.

The Courses

Whether you’re interested in woodworking or whisky tasting, CV writing or cheesemaking, horse riding or West African dance, there’s something for everyone at the Summer School!

Courses range from evening lessons to three-day sessions, so you can work around your holiday plans – or come stay in Ka¯piti, give something creative a try and explore the Kapiti Region.

The wide range of courses for adults are the ideal way to brush up on a skill, taste something new or upskill in something you have dabbled in before.

Budding artists will love the painting classes or blacksmithing course, while foodies can try Italian, vegetarian Indian cooking, and gluten free baking.

Nature-lovers can give beekeeping or helping to clean the coastline a go. The Lifestyle classes and ‘Developing Professionalism’ courses are worth investigating also, with everything from meditation to crime writing.

The Tutors

The tutors are local people who are experts in their field. Passionate and knowledgeable, they will give you personal attention. The tutors are all taking part with the goal of sharing their passions with people in Ka¯piti and the founders’ vision is that the Summer School might bring the community together in a unique and exciting way. Enrolment

Running from January 12 to January 20, Summer School will be held at Whitireia Campus and venues across the region.

Costs vary from course to course, with Early Bird pricing closing October 31.
