ASTRATHMORE PARK home that hadn’t changed hands in 23 years has been auctioned for $275,000 above its rateable value.
The property, at 47 Cavendish Sq, had a rateable value of $720,000 and sold for $995,000.
Glenis and Ralph Tilyard, of Harcourts, say the four-bedroom house stood out for its desirable 1930s and charm,
“It was full of possibilities and potential, and positioned for fabulous sun and captivating airport views,” Glenis says.
“The layout was near original and it had solid timber floors, open-plan dining and lounge, and a second toilet.”
The 144-square metre dwelling was on an elevated, sheltered 806 square metre section with garaging.

AN ISLAND BAY townhouse with great sun has been auctioned for $160,000 above its rateable value.
The property, at 2/78 Clyde St, had a rateable value of $415,000 and sold for $570,000.
“It was a tidy, low-maintenance townhouse with two doublebedrooms, a recently refurbished kitchen and great sun,” says Erin Rush, of Harcourts, who marketed the 70 square metre unit with Nigel Solomon.
“It was ideal for first-home buyers, investors, retirees and couples.”
The property also had a lock-up single garage and adjoining workshop.

A FRESHLY painted Aotea home with new carpet has been auctioned for $181,000 above its rateable value.
The property, at 30 Aotea Dr, had a rateable value of $700,000 and sold for $881,000.
“It was a fantastic four-bedroom home for growing families,” says Micky Limmer, of Harcourts, who marketed it with Marty Ritchie.
The 229 square metre dwelling was built in the 2000s and had an open-plan kitchen and dining area, two living spaces and two bathrooms.
It was on a 623 square metre section with a sunny courtyard and flat, fully fenced garden.
