White Ferns seek Twenty20 boost

-

‘‘It’ll come down partly to which teams adjust best to the conditions, so for us it puts us on a level playing field.’’

Tiffen said her team’s preparation had been aided by input from the likes of Auckland Aces coach Mark O’Donnell and former Black Cap Luke Ronchi, who are familiar with the conditions in Guyana from their time in the Caribbean Premier League.

‘‘We expect it to be a bit slower, and spin will play a big part. It’s nothing new, and we’ve talked to our players about making sure they have the game plan to be able to counteract that.

Satterthwaite is also alert to the changes that will come as games drag on into the night.

‘‘The teams that adjust to the conditions, firstly with them

❚ being different, then between daytime and night time as well, are going to be quite successful.’’

Satterthwaite is yet to win as the team’s full-time skipper, given their three losses in Australia, and is looking for more consistency from her charges.

‘‘If we can be a bit more disciplined with the ball it will allow us to build a bit more pressure, and then with the bat, we probably lost a few more wickets than we would have liked at different times, and that comes down to discipline.’’

The top two teams in each group advance to the semifinals, so a win over India next Saturday would put the White Ferns on track, while a loss would likely leave them needing a win over Australia four days later.
