A golden opportunity

-

A motor vehicle workshop that opened 20 years ago is for sale in Lower Hutt.

Midas Lower Hutt, at 10 Pretoria St, is part of a nationwide franchise that dates to 1988.

‘‘Over the past 30 years Midas has become the home of peace-ofmind motoring for Kiwis,’’ says Brendan O’Connor, of Link Business, who’s marketing the Lower Hutt workshop with Gary Kaye.

‘‘And with 23 branches around the country, it also offers peace-ofmind support for franchisees.

‘‘They benefit enormously from the buying power and brand awareness that the scale of Midas gives them.’’

O’Connor says Midas recently completed a full franchise system review.

‘‘As a result of this, it’s increasing its level of dedicated support for franchisees, with the focus on improving their business performance and profitability.

‘‘They’ve already added more services to help in health and safety compliance, and employee recruiting.

‘‘These and other initiatives can only help to enhance the performance of Midas Lower Hutt and position it for expansion in the future.’’

The Lower Hutt site has operated since 1998 and last changed hand seven years ago.

‘‘It’s a premium location, with lots of space and exposure, so it’s easy for customers to access,’’ Kaye says.

There’s a 327-square metre workshop as well as a 32sqm storeroom and 110sqm of office and amenities space.

The prominent site also includes 11 car parks and is leased until 2026, with a six-year right of renewal.

The workshop trades from 7.30am to 5pm weekdays and from 9am to 1pm Saturdays.

It has a full-time staff of four, including the working owner.

‘‘Midas Lower Hutt is superbly placed to capitalise on expansion opportunities,’’ Kaye says.

‘‘It’s in a high-profile location on a busy city route, has more than 3000 customers on its database and benefits from the bulk buying power that the Midas network enjoys.’’

The business has an asking price of $230,000.
