Help with coping at Christmas

-

Christmas is a time to be with friends and family.

Traditionally it’s a time for celebration, good food and good cheer; but for some families, it is a time of sadness while they adjust to life without a loved one.

Death can happen at any time, it does not stop for holidays, has no regard for tradition and it is during family gatherings such as Christmas that loss is so keenly felt by those left behind.

What would you do, who would you call and where would you turn if someone in your life died over the Christmas season, or at any time?

It’s a situation that no-one wants to think about – but one that everyone will experience sometime in their life.

From transferring the deceased from their place of death to preparing the body for viewing, Waikanae Funeral Home are there to help in times of loss, meeting with the family to discuss options and help arrange the service.

Your funeral director will contact and liaise with third parties such as churches, celebrants, caterers, florists and musicians; arranging everything from the service sheets to memorial books and slide shows. Their team is there to take as much off the shoulders of the bereaved family as possible and be a source of support and information.

With three funeral directors having a combined experience of over 55 years, the Waikanae Funeral Home team are on call 24 hours per day throughout the holiday period and can assist you with options for a memorable, meaningful farewell.

Their facility offers a modern purpose-built funeral home, chapel and the Cedarwood lounge, which can accommodate the full service and reception for your convenience. However, they also offer services at any venue of your choice and work closely with local religious organisations to ensure the embodiment of your loved one’s beliefs.

It may also be worth considering their pre-pay or prearrangement options, which can alleviate some stress and uncertainty, and help make the process easier when the time comes.

Waikanae Funeral Home is at 17 Parata Street, Waikanae – call into the office or they can come to you. Phone 04 2936844.
