Liverpool held to draw

-

Liverpool’s English Premier League title challenge faltered again, drawing at West Ham 1-1 . Having also drawn with Leicester in their last game, Liverpool have seen their lead over Manchester City trimmed to three points, with the second-placed defending champions having a superior goal difference. Liverpool went ahead in the 22nd minute at the Olympic Stadium thanks to the Premier League’s lack of video review, with James Milner receiving the ball in an offside position before crossing to Sadio Mane to score on the turn. West Ham equalised inside six minutes when Felipe Anderson sent the ball down the right to

No 30, who struck past static goalkeeper Alisson. Lacking spark on a quiet night up front for Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are making hard work of ending a 29-year title drought.

Michail Antonio,

Ireland hope No 8 CJ Stander will be available to return for the last two rounds of the Six Nations after suffering multiple facial fractures in the test against England. Ireland expect Stander to be sidelined ‘‘for up to four weeks’’ after he was injured in the third minute in a collision (pictured) with England flanker Tom Curry but played into the fourth quarter in the 32-20 loss in Dublin on Sunday. Not only did he play 62 minutes after suffering double cheek and eye socket fractures but the South African-born loose forward made 20 tackles from 20 attempts during the loss.
