All out for 10

- Cricket

It’s never a good sign when extras are the top score.

And so it proved for the South Australia women’s side who have been bowled out for just 10 in a humiliating defeat on day two of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships at Alice Springs.

Ten of the South Australia batters were dismissed without scoring as New South Wales ripped through the fragile batting lineup.

Extras top-scored with six and the only other four runs South Australia could muster came from opener Febi Mansell.

The contest was scheduled to be a T20 match but lasted only 79 balls.

South Australia’s innings was over in 10.2 overs.

Mansell survived 33 balls and 36 minutes at the crease.

Her 10 team-mates only managed to face 28 balls between them.

New South Wales bowler Roxsanne Van-Veen finished with the extraordinary figures of two overs, one maiden, five wickets for one run.

The one run she did concede was from a wide.

In response, New South Wales took just 17 balls to reach a match-winning total of 11.

Mansell might have been a part of the embarrassing defeat but she could at least take some consolation from being top scorer with the bat and picking up both New South Wales wickets to fall in the short run chase.
