New Sony compact promoted as ‘must have’ for Vloggers
SONY IS promoting its newest camera, the RX100 VII, as a “movie-making marvel” for vloggers.
It uses the technologies Sony developed for its full-frame Alpha 9 mirrorless camera to deliver prolevel performance in a compact camera, both stills and videos.
Powered by a newly developed 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor and the latest generation BIONZ X image processor, it offers levels of autofocus performance and speed that previously were possible only on the Alpha 9, Sony says.
“The RX100 VII offers a world leading 357 focal-plane phasedetection AF points and 425 contrast detection AF points. In addition, thanks to a newly optimised lens drive control, world’s fastest 0.02 sec AF acquisition time is realised.
“A major leap in AF/AE tracking
performance during continuous shooting means the camera performs AF/AE calculations up to 60 times per second and captures fast-moving action at 20fpswith AF/ AE tracking, ensuring that each moment is shot with swift and accurate focus.”
A new drive mode, Single Burst Shooting, can capture high-speed shooting up to 90fps in JPEG/RAW format using the anti-distortion shutter.
Photographers can frame fastmoving action and shoot as if taking a single shot - but the camera will deliver seven still images, taken at 90fps, 60fps or 30fps, so the perfect moment can be selected.
The RX100 VII offers for the first time in a compact camera advanced Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF’ capabilities for capturing subjects with unprecedented accuracy.
Vloggers will love its moviemaking strengths, from 4K in-body movie recording with full pixel readout and no pixel binning in high bit rate XAVC
S to Interval Shooting for stunning time-lapse videos and Super Slow Motion recording at up to 1000fps.
There’s also a 180-degree flip up screen, which, with the addition of the microphone jack, can capture superior audio while the optional Shooting Grip ensures fingertip recording and zooming.
The RX VII goes on sale this month for $2200.
