Sunny summer getaway beckons

-

rare chance to buy a beach house on a flat and sunny double-section with spectacular ocean views has arisen in one of Paraparaumu Beach’s best streets. The five-bedroom property, at 23 Manly St, is on a 1465-square metre site with extensive lawn, pohutukawa trees, a swimming pool and a boat shed.

“This is an exceptionally sunny getaway that offers everything you could wish for over summer,” agent Della Randall says.

It’s set well back from the street, with picturesque picket fencing, and faces west over Kapiti Island and towards the South Island. The 250sqm house has cedar weatherboards and a tile roof, and includes a double-garage with a workshop.

The front door of the two-storey dwelling opens into an entry foyer, with the open-plan living/dining areas and kitchen to the right.

The living/dining areas have a heat pump, and open to the private in-ground pool on one side and a deck that steps down to expansive flat lawn adjoining sand dunes on the other.

The kitchen has a perfectly framed view of Kapiti Island and includes a wall oven with a warming drawer, ceramic cooktop, dishwasher, pantry and tiled floor that extends through to the dining space. The adjoining formal lounge has a fireplace and opens to the same deck as the dining area. Also downstairs are a separate toilet and a laundry. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the upper level.

Four of the bedrooms have timber-panelled chapel ceilings with exposed beams. Two have skylights and three face west with ocean views.

The main bedroom also has a deck and an ensuite, the main bathroom has a shower-over-bath, and the fifth bedroom, which is in a separate wing, could be an optional games or media room.

“This property’s old world charm is a fantastic reminder of how beach houses used to be,” Randall says.

“The indoor-outdoor living is amazing, with plenty of room for kids to kick a ball around, or for adults to just sit in the sun and enjoy, or for everyone to have fun around the pool.

“The views are spectacular and the proximity to everything, from shops and cafes to the golf course, make it a great year-round escape.

“There’s also potential to develop the property further and capitalise on the blue-chip location.”
