It does away with the need for a traditional key or fob, with entry to the car enabled via Uniti’s secure mobile phone app.
The Uniti One accelerates from 0-50kmh in 4.1 seconds and 0-100kmh in 9.9 seconds. Top speed is 120kmh.
A wide-angle rear view camera replaces a traditional mirror, providing the driver with full rear visibility via a central digital display, even with two passengers sitting behind.

Customers deal directly via the brand website. Routine service inspections will be conducted by a dedicated network of mobile technicians.
Uniti was established in 2015 as an open innovation research project at Lund University, Sweden, with the aim of better understanding the societal and environmental impact of modern cars.
It revealed a two-seater prototype vehicle in 2017 and several thousand pre-orders followed. Uniti’s vehicle development, engineering and production hub is in Norfolk, England.
The vehicle is being offered to Northern Europe first, but Uniti says it is intended to be a car for the world.
Uniti development director Sally Provoltsky told Autocar magazine in the United Kingdom that franchised assembly operations around the world are a possibility: the United States, Mexico, India, Dubai and Australia were mentioned.
In the meantime, interested customers can register on the website and Uniti will contact them when there are plans to market the vehicle in their country.
The drop-down menu on Uniti’s website includes Australia but not New Zealand. Boo.
