The Post

15 mins of fame

-

This summer, The Dominion Post hit the streets to ask people who might not normally feature in the media a series of random questions. They were asked to select numbers between 1 and 110 – and answer the corresponding questions. Today we feature Sam Wood ,a tradesman turned office worker. Sam moved from Hamilton to Wellington to study and has not moved back since. He is a lover of craft beer and a fine pinot.

You just became a member of the Spice Girls – what is your Spice name and why?

Sporty Spice, I am pretty active.

Where do you take out-of-towners when they are visiting?

I would normally go to a few different cafes and restaurants. Depends on the person. I always try to check out some nature around Wellington somewhere – often Red Rocks.

You are on death row, what is your last meal?

Easy. Nice cheeseburger with pickles and mustard. Pint of beer and some fries.

What is the best way to procrastinate?

Is there a good way to procrastinate? Probably a bit of bingeing of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

If you had to choose another first name for yourself what would it be? Why?

I am going to go with Ben. People seem to think I look like a Ben.

What is the best thing that has happened today?

I got some lollies from the police as I went through the checkpoint to say thank you for driving sober.

Who would you invite – dead or alive – for a private dinner (one person only)? And why?

I think Barack Obama would be cool to meet. He has not had as much of an impact as others but he seems like a pretty on-to-it guy.

At what age were you the happiest?

Why?

Probably 19. I had a new group of friends, I was full of passion and vision, and had a lot of dreams and hopes ahead of me.

What is your favourite fun fact to tell people?

I do not have a lot of facts. Normally I rely on my friend Peter, who is full of them.

If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be and why?

My cousin. He died quite suddenly and it really affected my family.
