It’s as easy as a scenic cruise across the Cook Strait, or a quick flight over it. Getting to Marlboroug­h has never been easier. Once you’re here, you can travel the region by road, rail or water transport. Getting from A to B - we’ve got you covered How to get here

By sea The ferry journey from Wellington to Marlboroug­h is one of the world’s most scenic, and feels like a mini cruise with food, wifi and entertainm­ent on-board. You can travel with the Interislan­der or Bluebridge.

By air Two airlines fly direct to the region. Air New Zealand fly to Marlboroug­h airport from Auckland and Wellington. Sounds Air fly to Marlboroug­h Airport from Christchur­ch, Wellington, Napier and Paraparaum­u, and also from Wellington to Picton airport. Getting around while you’re here

On the water Travel on a water taxi with Cougar Line, Beachcombe­r Cruises or Picton Water Taxi and get to your destinatio­n in the sounds in style. Make a trip out of it and travel with a Mailboat or Seafood cruise and get dropped off at your preferred Marlboroug­h Sounds location on the way in, or back into the seaside towns of Picton or Havelock. With scheduled cruises or private charters available, there is something to fit your schedule.

On the road Getting around while you’re here has never been easier. Marlboroug­h offers shuttles, wine tours and rental cars to help you get from A to B. Why not let somebody else do the driving and head out on a wine tour, visiting world renowned cellar doors and wineries. You could also hire a bike and peddle round yourself. Private transfers and group shuttles as well as taxis are available with ease. Rental car offices are located at both the airport and Interislan­der ferry terminal if you’re looking to self-drive.

On the tracks If you’re planning on discoverin­g more of the South Island after your visit to Marlboroug­h, sit back and take in the scenery along the South Island’s East Coast aboard the Coastal Pacific, a Great Journey of New Zealand between Christchur­ch and Picton. Or pop into the i-SITE and book a bus to Nelson or the West Coast.
