I’m missing the army life, Harry admits

- UK/US

It is understood that the Duke of Sussex has told friends that he is ‘‘really missing the army’’ and ‘‘cannot believe’’ what has happened to him. The duke, 35, who left the army nearly five years ago and has had to relinquish his military appointments since stepping down as a working member of the royal family, is living in California with his wife Meghan and son Archie, who turns one next week. A source told The Daily

Telegraph: ‘‘Harry has told friends he is missing the army as well as his military appointments. He misses the camaraderies of being in the forces. He has been telling friends that he still can’t believe this has happened,

[that] his life has been turned upside down. He was happy in the army, then he met Meghan and since then life has been great. But I don’t think he foresaw things turning out as they did.’’ He has been talking to military friends during lockdown. This week he spearheaded the launch of Headfit, a mental wellbeing fitness tool for the military. A source told The Times: ‘‘The last 12 months: having a baby, moving country twice, and everything they have been through publicly and privately, I am sure that will take a toll on you. However, they are excited. They have ambitious plans.’’ The duke recently filmed an introduction to a special episode of the animated show Thomas & Friends: The Royal Engine in which the Queen and a young Prince of Wales are characters. The episode is part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of Thomas The Tank Engine.
