TODAY

Theatre: The Older the Better

Hens’ Teeth presents The Older the Better showcasing the talents of harmonica virtuoso Coral Trimmer, stand-up comedian Sunny Amey and character actor Dame Kate Harcourt. Tickets circa.co.nz

Festive: Light Years Christmas

Prepare to be dazzled by Light Years Christmas powered by Flick Electric Co at Capital E’s PlayHQ this festive season. Sure to put a twinkle in the eyes of tamariki, expect an array of lightbased play activities.

Concert: Voices in theWind

St Barnabas Church, Box Hill, Khandallah, 7.30pm, $15-$20

Auditioned choir Voices in theWind’s concerts feature a selection of beautiful works by Italian masters through the ages, from Monteverdi to Verdi to Rossini. Door sales.

TOMORROW Concert: Daily Deaths

Futuna Chapel, Karori, 2pm, koha

Daniel Beban’s new work Daily Deaths literally allows audiences to experience the unfolding days, weeks and months of the Covid-19 pandemic in sound. Eighteen musicians are divided into nine pairs of instrument­s, with the music based around the breath of each musician.

Event: Christmas in the City

Te Rauparaha Park, Porirua, 12-4pm, free

As well as a wonderland of lights, fun and a sprinkle of Santa’s magic, there will be arts and crafts, games, bouncy castles and much more. There will be fun for the whole wha¯nau.

Book talk: Heart of Flame

Wellington Bridge Club, 17 Tinakori Rd, 2.30pm, free

Katherine Mansfield House & Garden and Steele Roberts invite you to celebrate the recently released publicatio­n Heart of Flame: Katherine Mansfield’s Flowers & Trees.

The book’s compiler, Beverley Randell, will give an illustrate­d talk, followed by afternoon tea and a visit to the Katherine Mansfield House & Garden.

Exhibition: Simon Ingram: The Algorithmi­c Impulse

City Gallery, Until March 7, free

Drawing on approaches from artificial life, computer engineerin­g, and robotics, Simon Ingram’s new exhibition The Algorithmi­c Impulse challenges our idea of ‘the artist’. Visit on the weekend and witness his machine make a painting based on a visitor’s brainwaves in Monadic Device.

Circus: RAW Circus Show

The Circus Hub, Newtown, 8.30pm, Donation ($10-$20)

Presented by the Wellington Circus Hub community, new performers and profession­als all take to the stage to provide amagical evening of acrobatics, aerial arts and much more.

Stand Up: Space Lizards Comedy Night. Moon Bar Newtown, 7pm, $10.

Space Lizards Comedy Night is a fairly alternativ­e, but fun, monthly Stand Up comedy night. Sit down, have some beautifull­y prepared pizza and enjoy some comedy. MC, the sociopolit­ical Louis Tait, acclaimed as one of the best cruise ship bingo hosts in the world.

Concert: A French Christmas

St Teresa’s Church, 301 Karori Rd, 2.30pm, $20 Voix de Femmes concert will be a delight of traditions and music of the Christmas season. Excerpts from Charpentie­r’s Messe deMinuit (Midnight Mass) will leave you hungry for Le Reveillon, the feast that traditiona­lly follows Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Door sales.
