‘‘I like homeschooling because I get to see my family all day and have fun with my mum and dad. My mum is amuch better teacher than the teachers at a school.

‘‘For homeschooling we do a bit of maths, reading, writing, baking and lots of playing outside. We’re always outside playing.’’

‘‘We have lots of adventures. We have been tramping. We saw a stag when we were in Hawke’s Bay. We’ve seen giant snails that eat worms.

‘‘We get to be with our family every day and with our friends at the fair every weekend.

‘‘We make our own money with our crystal stall. We get to play and act together as a family for our circus show. We do tricks with devil sticks, knife throwing and acrobatics. We love it!’’

‘‘I went to high school for the first time this year during the winter.

‘‘I wanted to demystify teenagers. I always thought they were so cool but it turns out we are all the same.

‘‘It was really cool because I discovered I was up to scratch academically, I was even ahead in some subjects. I was behind in maths by the time I came back to homeschooling.

‘‘I will miss being able to do activities after school but when I think about it, I get to do all that – acting, dancing, acrobatics – as part of our family show every weekend.

‘‘Sometimes being with the family in a small space can get intense, but we all get through it together. My brothers are gorgeous and sweet, but they are seven and they have their moments. They can have a punch up one minute and be playing together the next.

‘‘I’mreally close with my parents. I enjoy their company
