Pork prizes won
A Canterbury butchery has taken out the title of New Zealand’s ham of the year. Akaroa Butchery and Deli’s manuka cured ham beat 56 other entries for the top title. The judges described the manuka honey cured ham as having excellent presentation and eye appeal, with a sweet taste and appealing texture. Dunedin’s Agora Butchery and Deli topped the 100 per cent Best New Zealand Pork Competition with its pulled pork entry. Entries were scrutinised by a panel of 33 leading chefs, food connoisseurs and master butchers.
