Position on water
My opposition to the fluoridation of our drinking water is based on the fact that only a very small percentage of our tap water is actually used for drinking.
I would also question how much tap water the most at-risk children drink. And fluoridation will do nothing to address the growing problem of child obesity.
Instead, I support a tax on sugary drinks, similar to the policy recently announced in the UK, and supported by the NZ Dental Association.
I have chosen to make my position clear because I believe the people of Canterbury have a right to know where candidates stand on this issue. Andrew Dickerson Independent elected board member, Canterbury DHB
