CBD school location wrong

-

Do we have double standards with the proposed new school on the corner of St Asaph and Colombo streets? I refer to the siting of the school opposite the established bars on St Asaph St.

If anybody wished to open a bar within close proximity of any school, the council would quickly deny their application.

It has also been written that with the bus exchange close by will be good for the pupils. Yeah right! I would hazard a guess that most will be dropped off and picked up by their parents, which will lead to more traffic congestion in town, which defeats the purpose of the nearby bus exchange.

The school previously used Hagley Park and I think it would be safe to say that they would still intend to use it as I can’t see how they would have any large grassed areas to play on. Why not site the school either near Latimer Square or further down St Asaph St closer to Hagley Park? Kevin Burns Redwood
