NZ rivers should be made safe for swimming - Greens
The Government should commit to making New Zealand’s rivers safe for swimming, not just wading, the Green Party says. Green Party water spokeswoman Catherine Delahunty said the Government had used ‘‘all sorts of excuses’’ to justify not tackling dairy pollution or having a swimmable standard. ‘‘Protecting our rivers so they are safe for swimming doesn’t fit the Government’s view that water is a resource to be exploited for economic gain above all else,’’ Delahunty said.
