TC3 ‘Chicken Licken’

-

Remember the tale of Chicken Licken and the sky is falling down? That chicken is causing havoc again. I recently put an earthquake-repaired house up for sale, and although it is insured with an endorsement excluding a TC3 foundation and the repairs were signed off by a registered structural engineer, no bank will lend against it. Why? Because it is a repaired foundation and in a hazard area or a flood zone and the banks see it as a risk. Whoever came up with the idea of making the possibility of a tsunami such a fearsome event that ‘‘Hazard ‘‘ is marked on hundreds of New Zealand homeowners’ LIMs.

This is surely causing more distress than the actual occurrence of another natural disaster.

Isn’t it better to live life with positive expectations rather than this cloud of fear?

Chicken Licken needs to be caught, stuffed and roasted. David R Moore Brookhaven
