New Zealand finish creditable sixth at Eisenhower Trophy

A solid final round has seen New Zealand finish sixth at the World Amateur Team Championships.

New Zealand shot to second early in the day at Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Mexico as at least two of their three golfers carded three birdies in the first eight holes.

But the trio of Luke Toomey, Nick Voke and Ryan Chisnall went over par on holes nine and 10, before finishing to par for the rest of their round as other teams surged past them.

Toomey was their best individual finisher at six-under, with Voke one shot back from him.

Chisnall struggled through his first three rounds, but carded an impressive three-under 68 on the final day to help push his side back up the leaderboard.

He finished the tournament at seven-over.

Their overall score of 15-under was just four shots off secondplaced England at the 71-team tournament.

But no team could catch the rampant Australian outfit, who led by 16 shots going into the final day and cruised to the title by a whopping 19-stroke margin to be crowned Eisenhower Trophy champions.

Their overall score of 38-under was almost solely down to their dynamic duo of Cameron Davis and Curtis Luck.

That pair finished as the top two overall, with Davis on 17 under and Luck on 15-under.

The next best individuals were three golfers on 12-under.
